Longing is the word to describe the ache which accompanies a woman's successful conformed family life, when she becomes aware of her own needs and desires for pleasure,and possibilities for boundless joy in a natural fair intellectual community with other women. White's poems desribe this longing and the reality of the inevitable choice of submission by most. White’s poems hit a familiar chord, I feel a kinship to her and her women.
