“I hold a BS in the biological sciences and a master’s in environmental management, specializing in soil contamination and water resources. For eight years, I worked for the state of Missouri evaluating potential hazardous waste sites under the federal Superfund Program. When I write haiku, I like to use words that are scientifically precise. I enjoy blurring the lines between common and scientific usages of words.”
