WATCHING THE SUNSET TOGETHER WITH A BIRD
after Paris Climate Summit
When most of them are heading
to their havens
before the darkness sucks
into their paths
atop a high wire—
this lonesome bird
is watching the crimson sky.
It hops
from one to the next—
higher
and higher
as if to fulfill a desire
echoing in my heart too—
to get a longer and longer view
of the setting sun
—as long as it is true.
—Poets Respond

Ramandeep Johal: “A physicist by training, I write poems too. This poem is written in response to recently concluded Paris summit on climate change. We really do not know at what point of stability we are within the fragile balance of nature. So all beings, birds and beasts, may wish to relish the beauty of nature as much as it lasts.”
